Visit the Timber Creek Police Station Precinct and catch a rare glimpse of the life of early police in the Northern Territory. Built in 1908 and used as the district police station until the late 1930s, the Timber Creek Police Station Museum is a steel framed structure with galvanised iron cladding and timber shutters. The building was restored in 1987-1988 and is one of the few buildings still standing that reveals early Northern Territory police station architecture and construction. The building, now on the National Trust Heritage list, is home to a small museum that houses a collection of items from the early days in the Victoria River District. The precinct includes an elevated house constructed in 1935, outbuildings, graves and police paddocks. The 1908 building is open to the public seasonally for a couple of hours a day. ...Great Ocean Road Tourism welcomes Timber Creek Police Station And Museum, the ideal Timber Creek NT Holiday outlet for all the family to enjoy.
